Weeds, diseases and pests are all undesirables and are a challenge to any person growing grass at a professional level. They make turf less suitable for sports, they are less attractive in formal recreational areas and left uncontrolled they will create larger problems.

Although management techniques may help to reduce the onset of these problems, a maintenance programme of herbicides, fungicides and insecticides is required to achieve a suitable result.

Here at AGPRO NZ we aim to supply an extensive range of products that can be used alone or in mixtures with other products for controlling most of the challenges a greens superintendant faces on a day to day basis.

Non-Selective Herbicides

AGPRO BioSafe

A fast-acting, non-selective herbicide derived from coconut oil for the control of a wide range of annual and some perennial weeds.

700g/L fatty acids in the form of an emulsifiable concentrate.

AGPRO Activated Amitrol 400

A translocated herbicide for the control of many grasses and broadleaf weeds with relatively short life in the soil. This product can be used under shrubs and trees.

400g/L amitrole plus 100g/L ammonium thiocyanate in the form of a water soluble concentrate.

AGPRO Activated Amitrol 400 is registered pursuant to the ACVM Act 1997, No. P005310.

AGPRO Meturon

Ideal for golf courses. AGPRO Metsulfuron has excellent systemic activity against most brushweeds and broadleaf weeds. Being non-hormone, Meturon can also be used in combination (spiked) with other herbicides on fairways to control more difficult weeds such as white daisy (contact AGPRO for rates or talk to your turf consultant).

Selective Herbicide

AGPRO Haloxyfop 100

Selectively controls a wide range of grass species in short or fine fescue lawns or fairways. AGPRO Haloxyfop 100 can also be safely sprayed over the top and around other plants in gardens or in a nursery situation to remove grass weeds such as couch, paspalum, kikuyu, summer grass and poa annua (winter grass). Refer to the label for specific rates.

Residual Herbicides

AGPRO Diuron 800

A residual herbicide for non-selective weed control in wasteland, irrigation channels around lakes, and is best partnered with AGPRO Glyphosate or AGPRO Glufosinate.

AGPRO Simazine 500

A selective pre-emergence residual herbicide that can be safely used with AGPRO Glyphosate and AGPRO Glufosinate under certain shelter species found in most golf courses.

Grass-Friendly Selective Herbicides

AGPRO Fairway

AGPRO is first to offer in New Zealand this combination of three very specific selective grass-friendly herbicides in a new formulation for the sports turf market. AGPRO Fairway will remove over 90% of all weeds that prevail in fairways and in amenity turf. The new formulation allows greater safety at higher rates on most turf species. Check with your supplier or an AGPRO representative for more details.

300g/L MCPA, 20g/L clopyralid and 15g/L diflufenican in the form of an emulsifiable concentrate.

NEW! AGPRO Flumetsulam 800WDG

A selective grass-friendly herbicide used to control many hard to kill weeds in amenity turf, fairways and pasture. Ideally suited in a tank mix with MCPA, AGPRO Cloralid, AGPRO Lawn Double Gold or Lawnclean. AGPRO Flumetsulam tackles the most difficult weeds such as mallow, shepherds purse, annual and giant buttercups, creeping cress, chickweed and wild radish, oxeye daisy, mayweed and wireweed. Low use rate of 50-65g/ha. Ensure AGPRO Crop Oil or Maximiser Oil @1L/ha is added.

AGPRO Double Gold

A selective herbicide which controls hard to kill broadleaf weeds including the oxalis species in fairways and amenity turf. AGPRO Double Gold can be mixed with other herbicides to further control other specific weeds.

100g/L picloram as the amine salt plus 300g/L triclopyr as the butoxy ethyl ester in the form of an emulsifiable concentrate.

AGPRO Cloralid 300

A selective herbicide ideal in most turf situations for the control of many harder to kill weeds such as thistles, plantains, clovers and yarrow.

AGPRO Cloram

The combination of AGPRO Picloram and AGPRO Clopyralid is ideal where hard to control weeds like ragwort, fennel, nettle, inkweed, thistles, gorse and blackberry may become a problem in gully’s or in waste areas around fairways.

150g/L picloram and 225g/L clopyralid as the monoethanolamine salt in the form of a soluble concentrate.

AGPRO Triclop 600

The broad spectrum systemic herbicide kills many species of brushweed as well as broadleaf weeds in turf. AGPRO Triclopyr can be applied alone but is best mixed with AGPRO Fairway or in combination with AGPRO Cloralid.

AGPRO Bentazone 480

This selective post-emergence grass herbicide can be used on all turf species with complete safety. Bentazone is safe over couch, short and tall fescue, browntop, ryegrass and bent grass species. Ideally used in warmer conditions from Nov-May, AGPRO Bentazone has direct knockdown on over 30 weed species. In combination with AGPRO Flumetsulam, a very safe summer broad spectrum herbicide is achieved.

LawnClean

This ideal mix of AGPRO 2,4-D and AGPRO Dicamba in a single formulation has a huge application for the control of most broadleaf weeds found in fine turf and fairways.

200g/L 2,4-D plus 100g/L dicamba both as amine salts in the form of a soluble concentrate.

Fungicides

AGPRO Carbendazim 500

A protective and curative fungicide for the control of brown patch, dollar spot and red thread in all turf situations. Ideal in combination with AGPRO Chlorothalonil to widen the disease control.

AGPRO Chlorothalonil 720

A broad spectrum fungicide for the control of most turf diseases. Applied alone or in combination with a suitable systemic fungicide, AGPRO Chlorothalonil has superior plant retention allowing much higher levels of protection.

AGPRO Helios Metalaxyl 250

This systemic fungicide can be used for the prevention and control of pythium in all playing surfaces.

AGPRO Standbye Prochloraz 450

A DMI fungicide used for the control of anthracnose, brown spot, dollar spot, fairy rings, fusarium and take-all patch. Applied early, it gives outstanding protection but will also control outbreaks of disease when applied early.

AGPRO Envy Tebuconazole 250

A systemic fungicide for the control of many turf diseases such as anthracnose, brown patch, dollar spot, fairy rings, fusarium and red thread. Because AGPRO Tebuconazole translocates upwards and outwards in the leaf blade, disease is localised and controlled more quickly.

AGPRO Jupiter Triadimenol 250

This fungicide is a broad spectrum, highly effective systemic being quickly translocated to the infection sites, and has very good control of anthracnose, dollar spot, both leaf and root fusarium, as well as red thread and take-all patch.

NEW! AGPRO Cyproconazole

This superior high strength Triazole formulation is now cost effective for the control of a range of diseases in turf and amenity sports fields. Brown patch, dollar spot, rusts, rolf’s disease and red thread are all well controlled with this systemic protectant fungicide. Cyproconazole also has the ability to be an eradicant with curative properties should infection become established. The NEW low use rates and SC formulation makes it safer to use on greens where sensitive grass species are used.

Insecticides

NEW! AGPRO Lambda Cyhalothrin

The best of the synthetic pyrethroid insecticides, AGPRO Lambda controls a range of pests that cause damage to sports fields, amenity turf, course fairways and greens and bowling greens. Pests such as black beetle, adult grass grub, Tasmanian grass grub and sod webworm are all controlled at the low rate of 4-6ml/100L water.

250g/L lambda cyhalothrin in the form of a suspension concentrate.

NEW! AGPRO Bifenthrin

This is the other synthetic pyrethroid insecticide with control on a good range of pests that cause damage to sports fields, course fairways and greens. Having a high affinity for soil, Bifenthrin is less soluble in water allowing better soil control of larvae once hatched and feeding.

AGPRO Canyon Fenamiphos 400

A nematicide that has systemic action in the plant to kill nematodes on the roots. As this product is slower to leach, it provides residual activity in the soil of grass for several months. Monitor regularly from September onwards for nematode damage to the root system. Treat only from October to December before severe damage to turf occurs.

Adjuvants, Additives and Biocides

AGPRO Big Spread Organo

A superior organosilicone penetrant surfactant formulated to assist the penetration and uptake of glyphosate and enhance the spreading and foliage deposition of fungicides, insecticides and some nutrients in a lower water volume spraying situation.

AGPRO Wetter/Penetrant

Improves the wetting and adhesion of agrichemicals in a range of situations and is particularly effective where waxy or hairy leaf surfaces, or dust-covered and dry weather-hardened leaves are to be sprayed.

AGPRO Blue Marker Dye

Low toxicity, temporary blue dye for the use on turf. AGPRO Blue Dye shows up where the agricultural chemical and fertiliser has been applied helping to prevent overlaps and aids detection when spraying on open ground.

AGPRO Boss

A selective biocide effective on all species of moss, liverworts and algal slime. Safe on lawns, bowling greens, cotula greens, fine turf, hard surfaces and paths. Now affordable in 5L and 10L packs. Best applied early winter before moss becomes established.

AGPRO Latex 520

A biodegradable sticker/retention agent for use with most commonly used fungicides, insecticides and some herbicides. AGPRO Latex 520 is ideally used with crop protection products prior to rain or irrigation.

AGPRO Crop Oil

A mineral oil used as an all-purpose adjuvant which also improves penetration, wetting and sticking. AGPRO Crop Oil will also reduce evaporation and weights the water droplets under light wind conditions.
